For the 2023 model year, the automaker added a new Limited Elite Edition trim, bringing the total number of trims to eight: Tradesman, HFE, Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, Limited Longhorn, Limited, and TRX. The truck is available with a 5-foot-7-inch or 6-foot-7-inch bed, and you can add a variety of features to help transport cargo such as adjustable tie-downs, a spray-in bed liner, and in-bed lighting. You can also utilize the multifunctional tailgate, which can swing open to the side like a car door or like normal. The truck also has an available single-pane or dual-pane sunroof.

Engine (Power)


Four engine options are available on the 2023 Ram 1500. The base 3.6-liter V-6 produces 305 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. Two V-8 engines are available, with the 5.7-liter one getting 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque, and the supercharged 6.2-liter one cranking out a massive 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. You can also opt for a 3.0-liter V-6 diesel engine that gets 260 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. Regardless of the engine, the truck uses an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Performance


When comparing fuel economy across the class, the 2023 Ram 1500 achieves solid numbers. With the base engine, expect to get an EPA-estimated 20 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. Those models with the diesel engine get slightly better numbers at 22 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. Trucks that use the V-8 engine get 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. It also has an impressive maximum towing capacity of 12,750 pounds.

Interior


The 2023 Ram 1500 offers seating for up to six people, thanks to a three-person front bench seat, or it can fit five people with front bucket seats. Despite being a pickup truck, it has a luxurious interior, especially in the upper trims that have ventilated and heated seats, premium leather upholstery, and a heated steering wheel. The truck also boasts three different sizes for its infotainment system. The standard 5.0-inch and available 8.4-inch and 12.0-inch touchscreens offer straightforward interfaces and intuitive controls. Other available technology upgrades include navigation, HD and satellite radio, several USB ports, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

Safety Features


Although the 2023 Ram 1500 only comes standard with a rearview camera, it has more than a dozen available add-on safety features. A few of the more noteworthy ones include stop-and-go adaptive cruise control, a surround-view parking camera system, front and rear parking sensors, automatic high-beam headlights, and blind-spot monitoring.
