1. Buck Creek State Park

Located about 30 miles southwest of downtown Marysville, Buck Creek State Park sits around the shores of the Clarence J. Brown Reservoir, an artificial body of water that offers plenty of opportunities for boating, swimming, fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. This state park covers an area of about 1,600 acres and was established in 1975 by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

A popular day trip and weekend destination among visitors from all over central Ohio, Buck Creek State Park is one of the closest and most beautiful nature reserves you can find in the Marysville area. Featuring a network of trails with a total length of about eight miles, the place is an excellent spot for hiking and mountain biking. Other popular activities include picnicking and seasonal hunting.

2. Indian Lake State Park

Featuring the second largest inland body of water in the entire state of Ohio, Indian Lake State Park is another excellent destination for Marysville locals looking for a nature reserve to spend a weekend away from the city. Established in what was once a feeder lake for the Miami and Erie Canal in the 1800s, this place is nowadays a popular recreation spot offering plenty of recreational opportunities.

Indian Lake State Park is located about 40 miles northwest of downtown Marysville and can be reached in a little under 45 minutes by car, making it a great spot for a day trip. Once you make your way to this expansive nature reserve, make sure to check out the Russells Point area, where you can see the last remaining part of the old Sandy Beach Amusement Park.

3. Delaware State Park

Established in the early 1950s and covering an area of almost 1,700 acres, Delaware State Park is another beautiful nature reserve and public recreation area that welcomes tourists from all over the region. Located just over 20 miles northeast of Marysville, it can be reached in about half an hour by car. Popular activities among visitors include selective hunting, picnicking, fishing, hiking, and boating.
